Las palomas y el Teatro
El Teatro Gualeguaychú luce de manera espléndida gracias al trabajo de restauración y rescate patrimonial que se le realizó.
Sin embargo, en lo inmediato tiene una seria amenaza por los desechos de las palomas, que están acostumbradas a morar en su techo.
Es un hecho que la población de paloma ha crecido en los últimos años en la ciudad, provocando algunos riesgos, especialmente en la arquitectura de edificios.
Además de transmitir enfermedades, estas aves son las proclives a dañar edificios y monumentos, debido a que suelen generalmente cobijarse en esos lugares, especialmente atraídas por las salientes y ornamentos.
Y el mayor problema que generan son provocados por sus deyecciones, tanto excrementos como orina, que quedan depositados en esos lugares. Y este problema se agrava por la acción destructiva del agua, el clima y la procreación de microorganismos.
Está claro que hay que encontrar un método sabio, inteligente y humano para solucionar estos inconvenientes, crear palomares como alguna vez existió en el Parque Unzué y en otros sitios y, por supuesto, tener una constancia permanente para realizar los trabajos de limpieza, mantenimiento y conservación de los edificios y monumentos, especialmente con el flamante Teatro Gualeguaychú.
Hay métodos químicos, mecánicos e incluso auditivos que ahuyentan a las palomas sin generarles mayores daños.
De acuerdo a la bibliografía disponible en Internet, un sistema muy eficiente, a muy bajo costo y con una duración ilimitada como es el llamado “Sistema Electrostático para el Alejamiento de Palomas”.
Este sistema no daña a las palomas ni a la estructura de la arquitectura y tampoco afecta la estética del edificio. Es más, es el método que actualmente en España y otras partes de Europa se está utilizando para proteger de las palomas a la Catedral de Sevilla (Nave del Lagarto); la Mezquita (Puertas del Perdón, Santa Catalina y Las Palmas); la Basílica de Santa María de Elche (Alicante), la Catedral de Jaca (Huesca) y el Instituto Italiano de Cultura de Madrid, entre muchos otros.
Las palomas se han adaptado perfectamente al medio urbano y son expertas en utilizar las esquinas oscuras y las salientes de los edificios para anidar. Y la superpoblación palomar provoca que haya gran competencia por buscar sitios seguros para anidar.
Combatir las palomas es una necesidad y hay técnicas y dispositivos que no dañan al animal ni a lo que se pretende proteger. Sería una pena que no se contemplara esta situación, porque en un tiempo no muy lejano, las consecuencias de esta presencia repercutirá negativamente en los edificios y especialmente en el Teatro.
