Una comparación que espanta
A raíz del asesinato de las jóvenes argentinas que veraneaban en Ecuador, el diario Clarín publicó el 1 de marzo una crónica con el título “Montañita: un pueblo señalado por la noche, la droga y la inseguridad”, dando cuenta de los desbordes que se registran en esa localidad. El asesinato de las argentinas en Ecuador. Visitantes del lugar y habitantes de la zona coinciden en que allí abundan los robos y el fácil acceso a las drogas.
Montañita, la aldea surfer donde aparecieron muertas las dos turistas argentinas, está en el centro de todas las miradas. Según algunos residentes de la zona y lo que se puede leer en foros de Internet y en opiniones de viajeros, el lugar sufre por los robos y el fácil acceso a las drogas.
En un portal de viajeros llamado Viajeros en contacto se puede leer un post titulado “Playa, sexo, drogas y alcohol”. No se trata del eslogan de algún rockero, sino de una opinión sobre el pueblo de Montañita, ubicado en el oeste de Ecuador, a orillas del Océano Pacífico.
“Cuenta la leyenda que Montañita era una comunidad hippie donde reinaba la paz y la tranquilidad, pero la realidad está muy alejada. Montañita se ha convertido en el destino turístico de Ecuador por excelencia de aquellos que quieren reventarse, tanto la cabeza como el cuerpo, se ha transformado en el destino de los excesos”, cuenta el autor del texto.
Y no es el único, en TripAdvisor -que también reúne opiniones de personas que viajan a distintas partes del mundo- es común leer cosas como “hay alcohol por todos lados”; “la droga es fácil de conseguir”; “no hay control”.
Un lector de Clarín que vive en Guayaquil (cerca de la aldea en cuestión) le dijo a este diario: “A nuestros hijos los alertamos sobre el cuidado que deben tener cuando viajan allí. Siempre llegan noticias de robos de celulares y billeteras”. Y siguió: “Es un balneario conocido por sus excesos en el consumo de alcohol y en especial de toda clase de drogas”.
Turistas argentinos que viajaron el mes pasado le contaron a Clarín que Montañita es el único lugar de Ecuador en donde las actividades nocturnas continúan hasta que sale el sol. Los chicos pudieron recorrer el país y notaron que en todo el territorio los boliches y pubs cierran a las 2 de la mañana. Menos allí: “No hay mucha policía y está “todo permitio”, pero nunca tuvimos la sensación de peligro. No hay cabarets ni prostitución ni nada que nos llamara la atención”, contó Leandro, de 23 años.
Su amigo Martín -de la misma edad- agregó otro dato: “Si tuviera que compararlo con algún lugar de la Argentina lo haría con Gualeguaychú en pleno carnaval. Hay joda las 24 horas y todo es un clima festivo. Hay drogas y alcohol, pero no es algo oscuro. Yo creo que las chicas se cruzaron con la gente equivocada, de las que puede haber en cualquier parte del mundo”.

Suficiente para comenzar hoy mismo a trabajar para revertir esta realidad que conocemos y que quizá haya empezado a molestar a partir de la difusión que le ha dado el portal mencionado.
Pero como decimos siempre: no sirve enojarse con quien dice las cosas o matar al cartero. Lo que debe hacerse es prevenir para evitar las malas noticias.
